Bitx SDR Comming!

We are glad to inform our Bitx Community that a new project Bitx SDR is underway and very soon we shall have a Bitx SDR after the great success of Bitx Version 3 SSB TCVR.

OM VU3WJM Rahul has confirmed that he is working on the project, we shall be updating the news for the project as we get any new info from OM Rahul

We are posting the details of the post Rahul made regarding the BITX SDR in the Yahoo Bitx forum

POST BY RAHUL VU3WJM ON THE BITX SDR

Hi! All

Once we had a very interesting discussion on the group for a BITX SDR design.

Whie visiting the local mkt I came across some xtals of very intersting frequencies 16.xxxMhz and

18.432Mhz standard clock freq.

16.xx Mhz can generate some very nice 90deg phase shifted LO's at 4.xx IF freq similar to one used in

K2.

The idea of line up is like to use BITX RF/TX preamps, doubly balanced diode RX/TX mixers. BITX post

mixers , 4.xx mhz BPF, 74hc series BITX S/H detectors with the 16.xx xtals generation the 90 deg clock,

NE5532 baseband ampifiers.

18.432Mhz can be used as LO in super VXO config for abt 100KHz coverage on 20 mtrs else optional input

can be provided for an Si570 multi band VFO setup.

Just require your valuable inputs before I proceed with the new design ....Ver5????

Inviting Suggestions for Bitx Version 3 modifications

Bitx has made history as the most popular kit for radio amateurs.

Amateurs world wide have made the Bitx kit in various ways. The Bitx Version 3 still requires certain mods to made to take it to a higher level in regards to performance.

The following mods would make Bitx version much better.

1. BFO LSB/USB

2. AGC

3. Modification in Mic Pre amp to increase the overall gain

4. Add on for CW

5. Modification in driver stage of the Bitx 3 Linear to push more drive for the IRF 510

I have mentioned a few mods that can made to enhance the performance and the Bitx Version 3.

I would appreciate any feedback in this regard. Kindly email me your suggestions .

Thanks and best of 73s

New PCB for the IK3OIL FLL

A new printed circuit board has been  produced that is available as kit as well as build FLL Frequency counter.

The need was felt to make some changes to the printed circuit board of IK3OIL FLL for the following reasons.

1. To make it much easier to mount on a case.

2. To have better connectors .

3. We have used the 7805 larger transistor and not the smaller one 7805L. This was done  as we found the use
much better in reliability of 7805.

4. The voltage input in old PCB was provided at two points. we have provided a single point for
   connecting 12 Volts.

We have already sold a few of these units. The good thing is that it is very easy now to mount this
Frequency counter in any suitable case.

If you have purchased an FLL before from use and wish to buy this new one again, then do not forget
to ask us for a discount, as we will be providing discounts if you have purchased this kit before.

Some pictures have been published here for our  friends. I hope you enjoy this new model for the
IK3OIL FLL Freq Counter.

New Silk Screen For Bitx Version 3

We have a new silk screen for the Bitx version 3.
The earlier silk screen had the BC547 Transistors Pad Shown . The new one has the 2n3904 shown.
We have also made all necessary corrections which were due.

The new look of PCB is quite good now , with all components visible with clear markings.

Bitx Version 3 QRV From Indonesia.

Getting the feeling to hear  a new Bitx 3 qrv from some part of the world is always an amazing feeling for me as well as Bitx Fans world wide.

Joy has published on You Tube his completed Bitx Version 3 and has been very kind in sending me an email and link to his You Tube Channel.

Here is the email sent to me by Om JOY/YB0NSI

Hi Sunil,

I have finally completed the BitX20 I bought from you in March 2010..It is now placed in its final homebrew casing..It is a good kit with a quiet and sensitive receiver..With or without the FLL and a good antenna, it will work the world..I have managed to work 5 continents with it..Attached is the BitX20 working USA state-side and there are others on my YouTube Channel..I will also take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2012 !! .. 73, JOY/YB0NSI

BitX20 working USA Stateside
Trying out QRP DX to USA stateside on 20m..Worked N1UK n K8XS, both from the East Coast via short path (through the North Pole)..Barely made it with a 3-5 report..An AGC is certainly needed to prevent the receiver from overloading by local strong signals..The counter is still jumpy due to RF but does not affect TX quality and the FLL works FB..Will isolate the RF Leak later by re-routing some of the wiring, improving Ground connection and putting some RF Beads..73

Bitx Version 3 Receiving

Published here are a few videos that show the Bitx Version 3 in receiving mode for 20mt band.

The Bitx version 3 that has been made is with no modifications at all and is made as  details and parts
provided in the kit. I have used Steroflex Capacitors in the VFO.

The Freq counter used is the DL4YHF Design . The set is quite stable with not much of drift at all.

The RX works great with strong signals being heard. The band conditions also seem to be quite
good and lot of DX stations can be heard.

The set tunes the complete band from 14.000 MHZ to 14.350 MHZ

I hope the video will give ample view to show that the Bitx Version 3 Kit works as one of the best
and easy designs for Hams world wide building the Bitx 3 .
