Bitx Version 3 B PCB's Components Layout

After much hard work for a few months the PCB's for the Bitx Version 3 B are ready. Very soon we will start accepting orders for the Bitx Ver 3 B  Kits.  The case is also ready we will be sharing the pictures very soon.

Highlights for the Bitx Version 3 B

1. Basic Operation 20mt band kit

2. VFO  Varactor Tuned

3. Inbuilt Mic Pre Amplifier

4. Audio Mute on TX

5. No Hissing of RX on receive,as a filter is used in audio to suppress the hissing sound

6. Full connectivity of FLL counter and  control for VFO drift

7. Connection points for Freq Counter FLL Type

8. AGC Module Extra Mounted on VU Meter.

This design is an upgrade from Bitx Version 3.  The original Bitx design belongs to the author OM Farhan from India.

This new design was suggested by a few Italian Hams, we took the Basic design and added further mods.

The design made by Italian Hams did not have the Connections and buffer in VFO for the FLL Freq counter,or the anit hissing filter in the audio amplifier. nor the AGC module, which is mounted on back of a VU Meter. So we had to do a lot of testing after making several boards and testing them we finally made these boards.

The good news is that the Manual is being made by OM Leaonard , who has a great experience with the Bitx 3 and Bitx 20a

The Manual may take some time. The basic manual is same only with certain changes in the VFO, Audio and TX Pre amp. So we will presently provide with some head on start notes.

Low RF Gain In Bitx 3

If you experience low gain in RF amplifier of Bitx 3 Or Bitx Multiband then please check out the

2SC2570.  We request you to kindly change the 2SC2570 .

I have had problem sourcing  good quality 2SC2570 and some of you may have had the
one with low gain, supplied in the KIT

If your 2SC2570 is not as per the picture below then kindly change it with 2N3904. You would need to change the PIN connections for 2N3904 .

The picture below is of a good quality 2SC2570 if you are having this type it is  ok. The lot number is also given on the transistor.

2SC2570  THIS ONE IS OK .

I could not get a good picture of the one with low gain, as the marking is not good on it, i will post a picture of it soon.

New Version Of Bitx Version 3 Demo

The Bitx Version 3 New Version PCB is to be launched soon.

The following changes have been made:

1. Varactor tuned VFO with connection of FLL freq counter. We have a video below showing
a demo with the new Bitx 3 version connected with the IK3 OIL FLL Counter but the VFO is of
bitx with some changes. The first transistor is BF245 with varactor diode tune, covering complete
   band.

2.  Mic Pre amp stage has been added to now its quite sensitive .

3. Increased Audio output.

4. Audio Amp mute as the PTT is pressed , this was required for keeping the relay from making a noise
   on pressing PTT.

4. Point for connecting optional AGC and CW.

More news soon.

Enjoy the video posted below in New Bitx Version 3 coming soon.

LED S.METER FOR BITX

We present here a LED Bargraph S.Meter. The meter works with the existing 12 Volts D.C power supply from the Bitx.

This LED S.Meter can be used for any home brew receivers or in any commercial tcvr that do not have an S.Meter.

This test has been done with the Bitx version 3 on 20mt band.

Shortly we will be adding a Paypal buy button for this meter and also offering it with out Bitx Kits.

Bitx SDR Comming!

We are glad to inform our Bitx Community that a new project Bitx SDR is underway and very soon we shall have a Bitx SDR after the great success of Bitx Version 3 SSB TCVR.

OM VU3WJM Rahul has confirmed that he is working on the project, we shall be updating the news for the project as we get any new info from OM Rahul

We are posting the details of the post Rahul made regarding the BITX SDR in the Yahoo Bitx forum

POST BY RAHUL VU3WJM ON THE BITX SDR

Hi! All

Once we had a very interesting discussion on the group for a BITX SDR design.

Whie visiting the local mkt I came across some xtals of very intersting frequencies 16.xxxMhz and

18.432Mhz standard clock freq.

16.xx Mhz can generate some very nice 90deg phase shifted LO's at 4.xx IF freq similar to one used in

K2.

The idea of line up is like to use BITX RF/TX preamps, doubly balanced diode RX/TX mixers. BITX post

mixers , 4.xx mhz BPF, 74hc series BITX S/H detectors with the 16.xx xtals generation the 90 deg clock,

NE5532 baseband ampifiers.

18.432Mhz can be used as LO in super VXO config for abt 100KHz coverage on 20 mtrs else optional input

can be provided for an Si570 multi band VFO setup.

Just require your valuable inputs before I proceed with the new design ....Ver5????

Inviting Suggestions for Bitx Version 3 modifications

Bitx has made history as the most popular kit for radio amateurs.

Amateurs world wide have made the Bitx kit in various ways. The Bitx Version 3 still requires certain mods to made to take it to a higher level in regards to performance.

The following mods would make Bitx version much better.

1. BFO LSB/USB

2. AGC

3. Modification in Mic Pre amp to increase the overall gain

4. Add on for CW

5. Modification in driver stage of the Bitx 3 Linear to push more drive for the IRF 510

I have mentioned a few mods that can made to enhance the performance and the Bitx Version 3.

I would appreciate any feedback in this regard. Kindly email me your suggestions .

Thanks and best of 73s
